Instructions

  1. Peel the onion and cut off the top, leaving the root intact.
  2. Make vertical cuts around the onion to create petals.
  3. Soak the onion in buttermilk for 30 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, and salt.
  5. Coat the onion in the flour mixture.
  6. Dip the onion in beaten eggs and then coat with breadcrumbs.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Fry the onion for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Drain on paper towels and serve with dipping sauce.
