Ingrédients

- 1 large onion
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Peel the onion and cut off the top, leaving the root intact.
- Make vertical cuts around the onion to create petals.
- Soak the onion in buttermilk for 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, and salt.
- Coat the onion in the flour mixture.
- Dip the onion in beaten eggs and then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the onion for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve with dipping sauce.
