Description
Bomboloni are Italian donuts filled with creamy custard or jam.
Ingrédients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Filling of choice (custard, jam)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add eggs and melted butter to the yeast mixture.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients. Knead the dough until smooth.
- Let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into balls.
- Let the balls rise for another 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pot for frying.
- Fry the donuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels and fill with your choice of filling.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
