Ingrédients

- 100g sugar
- 100g unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
- 50g ground almonds
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking powder

- Red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- In another bowl, combine flour, ground almonds, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until combined.
- If desired, add red food coloring for a festive look.
- Shape the dough into small balls and place them on a baking tray.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Allow to cool before placing in the cookie box.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- These cookies can be made a week in advance.
- Decorate the box with traditional Chinese motifs for a festive touch.
