Description
A classic vanilla slice with smooth custard and flaky pastry.
Ingrédients

- 2 sheets of puff pastry
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of cornflour
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).
- Roll out the puff pastry and line a baking dish.
- Bake the pastry for 15 minutes until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, heat milk and cream together.
- In a bowl, whisk sugar, cornflour, and egg yolks.
- Slowly add hot milk mixture to the egg mixture, stirring constantly.
- Return mixture to the saucepan and cook until thickened.
- Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Pour custard over baked pastry and let it set.
- Top with another layer of pastry and chill before serving.
