Description
German chocolate cake is a rich chocolate layer cake topped with a coconut and pecan frosting.
Ingrédients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water until well combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pans.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans to cool completely.
- For frosting, cook butter, condensed milk, and egg yolks over medium heat until thickened.
- Remove from heat. Stir in coconut and pecans.
- Spread frosting between layers and on top of the cake.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Best served at room temperature.
