  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix cake mix, water, oil, and eggs in a bowl.
  3. Pour batter into a greased 9×13 inch pan.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. While the cake bakes, prepare the frosting.
  6. In a saucepan, combine evaporated milk, sugar, butter, and vanilla over medium heat.
  7. Stir until the mixture thickens, about 10 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and mix in coconut and pecans.
  9. Poke holes in the cooled cake with a fork.
  10. Pour frosting over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
  11. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
