A classic dessert made with bread, eggs, milk, and spices, served with a rich vanilla sauce.
Ingrédients

- 4 cups stale bread, cubed
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine bread cubes and raisins.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the mixture over the bread and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish.
- Dot with butter.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until set.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla sauce.
- Can be made a day in advance.
- For added flavor, use different types of bread.
