A classic homemade Dutch apple pie with a crumbly topping.

- 6 cups sliced apples
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 pie crust
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch.
- Place the pie crust in a pie pan.
- Fill the crust with the apple mixture.
- In another bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, and butter until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumb mixture over the apples.
- Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30 to 35 minutes.
- Let it cool before serving.
Notes
- Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for better flavor.
- Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
