Ingrédients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup rum (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs until they are light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add the sugar and continue to beat until well combined.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the milk and cream over medium heat until warm.
  4. Slowly whisk the warm milk mixture into the egg mixture.
  5. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat until it thickens slightly.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, nutmeg, and rum if using.
  7. Chill the eggnog in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
  8. Serve chilled, garnished with additional nutmeg if desired.

Notes

  • Keep refrigerated and consume within 3 days.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste by adding more or less sugar.
  • For non-alcoholic version, omit the rum.
