Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the loaf on a baking sheet. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
- For a crustier bread, add a pan of water to the oven while baking.
- Store bread in a paper bag to maintain freshness.
- Slice the bread when completely cool for clean cuts.
