  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 4 cups turkey broth
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and rinse the turkey under cold water.
  3. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  4. In a bowl, mix butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
  5. Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin.
  6. Place the onion, carrots, and celery in the roasting pan.
  7. Set the turkey on top of the vegetables in the pan.
  8. Pour turkey broth into the pan.
  9. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  10. Roast the turkey for about 13-15 minutes per pound.
  11. Remove the foil in the last hour for a golden skin.
  12. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
  13. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

  • Brining the turkey overnight adds flavor and moisture.
  • Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
