- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey from packaging and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey, including under the skin.
- Season the turkey inside and out with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and add chicken broth to the bottom of the pan.
- Cover the turkey with aluminum foil.
- Roast in the preheated oven for about 13-15 minutes per pound.
- Remove the foil for the last 30-45 minutes to allow the skin to brown.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the breast.
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Make sure the turkey is completely thawed before cooking.
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate temperature reading.
- For extra flavor, stuff the turkey with your favorite stuffing.
