- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp mustard powder
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook macaroni according to package directions.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Stir in flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and mustard powder.
- Gradually whisk in milk and cook until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheddar and Parmesan until melted.
- Combine pasta and cheese sauce, then transfer to a baking dish.
- Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add cooked bacon or ham.
- Use different types of cheese for varied taste.
- Can be made ahead and baked before serving.
