- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 4 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add flour and whisk for 2 minutes to create a roux.
- Slowly pour in milk and cream, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in cheese until melted and smooth.
- Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni.
- Transfer to a baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly.
Notes
- For added flavor, mix in cooked bacon or breadcrumbs on top.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
