Description

A classic dish of pork and sauerkraut cooked together for a flavorful meal.


Ingrédients

  • 2 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large oven-safe pot, heat oil over medium heat. Sear the pork on all sides until browned.
  4. Remove the pork and set aside. In the same pot, add onions and garlic; sauté until softened.
  5. Add sauerkraut, chicken broth, and caraway seeds to the pot. Stir to combine.
  6. Place the pork back into the pot, cover, and transfer to the oven.
  7. Bake for 2 to 3 hours, until the pork is tender.
  8. Slice and serve with sauerkraut.

Notes

  • Serve with mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • This dish can also be cooked in a slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours.
