Potatoes au gratin is a creamy and cheesy potato dish baked to perfection.

- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup grated cheese (Gruyere or Cheddar)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

- 2 tablespoons butter, for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
- Mix cream, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes.
- Add half of the grated cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
- Bake for 45-60 minutes until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use a mandoline slicer for even potato slices.
- Experiment with different types of cheese for varied flavor.
- Allow the dish to cool slightly for easier serving.
