A selection of traditional Puerto Rican appetizers.
Ingrédients

- 1 cup of cooked and mashed plantains
- 1/2 cup of cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup of bacon bits
- 1/4 cup of sofrito
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix the mashed plantains, cheese, bacon bits, sofrito, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add the beaten egg to the mixture and combine well.
- Form small balls or patties out of the mixture.
- Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve warm with dipping sauce.
Notes
- You can use any type of cheese.
- Feel free to add other ingredients like ground meat or vegetables.
- Adjust seasoning to your taste.
