Description
Rosca de Reyes is a traditional Mexican pastry served on Epiphany. It symbolizes the visit of the Three Wise Men.
Ingrédients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup milk, warmed
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup candied fruit for decoration
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add butter, eggs, vanilla, and the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Shape the dough into a ring and place it on a baking sheet.
- Decorate with candied fruit and almonds.
- Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25-30 minutes.
- Cool before serving.
Notes
- Serve with hot chocolate or coffee.
- You can hide a figurine inside for tradition.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
