  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and extracts, mix well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until combined.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into shapes.
  7. Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
  8. Let cookies cool completely.
  9. For royal icing, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  10. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until stiff peaks form.
  11. Color the icing as desired and decorate the cookies.
