These royal icing Thanksgiving cookies are festive and perfect for the holiday season.
Ingrédients

- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 large egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and extracts, mix well.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until combined.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into shapes.
- Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Let cookies cool completely.
- For royal icing, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until stiff peaks form.
- Color the icing as desired and decorate the cookies.
