Description
A flavorful smoked turkey perfect for Thanksgiving.
Ingrédients

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons black pepper
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon thyme
- 1 tablespoon rosemary
- 4 cups wood chips (hickory or apple)
Instructions
- Thaw the turkey in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
- Mix olive oil, salt, brown sugar, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, and rosemary in a bowl.
- Rub the mixture all over the turkey, under the skin and inside the cavity.
- Let the turkey sit at room temperature for 1 hour.
- Soak wood chips in water for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the smoker to 225°F (107°C).
- Drain the wood chips and add them to the smoker.
- Place the turkey in the smoker and cook for 30 minutes per pound.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Remove from the smoker and let it rest for 30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
- Try different wood flavors for variety.
- Brining the turkey overnight can enhance flavor.
