- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Stir until smooth.
- Gradually add milk and cream, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Add 3 cups of cheddar cheese to the sauce. Stir until melted.
- Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with remaining cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add cooked bacon or sausage.
