Description

Southern baked mac and cheese is a creamy and cheesy pasta dish baked to perfection.

  • 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Add flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Stir until smooth.
  5. Gradually add milk and cream, stirring constantly until thickened.
  6. Add 3 cups of cheddar cheese to the sauce. Stir until melted.
  7. Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni.
  8. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with remaining cheddar cheese.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
