A classic dessert featuring layers of strawberry, cream, and cake.

- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix strawberries with 1/4 cup sugar and let sit.
- In a bowl, combine flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add butter, milk, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Pour batter into greased cake pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden.
- Whip heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Once the cake cools, slice it in half.
- Layer strawberries and cream between cake halves.
- Top with remaining strawberries and cream.
Notes
- Use ripe strawberries for best flavor.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
- Can substitute whipped topping for heavy cream.
