A traditional Thanksgiving meal celebrating black family heritage.
Ingrédients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Butter – 1 cup
- Garlic – 6 cloves, minced
- Onion – 1 large, chopped
- Celery – 2 stalks, chopped
- Carrots – 2, chopped
- Chicken broth – 4 cups
- Stuffing mix – 1 box
- Green beans – 1 lb
- Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
- Salt – 1 tablespoon
- Pepper – 1 teaspoon
- Cranberry sauce – 1 can
- Pumpkin pie – 1 (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by rubbing it with butter, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the turkey with the stuffing mix and some chopped vegetables.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
- Cover with foil and roast for 3-4 hours, basting occasionally.
- While the turkey cooks, sauté green beans in olive oil with salt and pepper.
- Prepare cranberry sauce according to package instructions.
- Serve turkey with stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.
Notes
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Consider adding cornbread to the stuffing mix for added flavor.
