- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 cups cubed bread
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup diced bell peppers
- 1 cup diced onions
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Add cubed bread, cooked sausage, bell peppers, onions, and cheese to the egg mixture. Stir to combine.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the center is set and the top is golden.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can prepare this casserole the night before and refrigerate it.
- Substitute sausage with turkey sausage for a lighter option.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
