Ingrédients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
  • 4 cups sliced apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until dough forms.
  5. Divide dough in half, shape into discs, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out one disc and fit it into a pie pan.
  7. In another bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and cornstarch.
  8. Pour apple mixture into the pie crust.
  9. Roll out the second disc and place it over the filling. Seal edges.
  10. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
  11. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Cool before serving.

  • Use a mix of apples for better flavor.
  • Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
