Description
A traditional Thanksgiving dinner featuring turkey and sides.

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 4 cups stuffing
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups carrots, chopped
- 2 cups celery, chopped
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup cranberry sauce
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup gravy
- 2 cups green beans, steamed
- 1 pumpkin pie
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
- Stuff the turkey with stuffing and tie the legs together.
- Rub butter over the skin and season with salt and pepper.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and add chicken broth.
- Roast for about 3-4 hours, basting occasionally.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
- Prepare mashed potatoes and gravy while the turkey rests.
- Serve with cranberry sauce and steamed green beans.
- Finish with pumpkin pie for dessert.
Notes
- Allow the turkey to thaw in the refrigerator for several days if frozen.
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
- Adjust cooking time based on turkey size.
- Save leftover turkey for sandwiches.
