Description
A traditional Thanksgiving dinner featuring turkey and seasonal sides.

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 2 cups bread crumbs
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 teaspoons sage
- 2 teaspoons thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup cranberry sauce
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 2 cups green bean casserole
- 1 pumpkin pie
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the stuffing by melting butter in a skillet. Add onion and celery, cook until soft.
- Mix in bread crumbs, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the turkey with the mixture and place it in a roasting pan.
- Pour chicken broth over the turkey.
- Cover with foil and roast for 2-3 hours, basting every 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
- Serve with cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie.

- Choose a fresh or thawed turkey for best results.
- Prepare sides while the turkey cooks.
- Use leftovers for sandwiches or soup.
