- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups bread crumbs
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
- In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onion and celery until soft.
- Add bread crumbs, salt, pepper, sage, and thyme; mix well.
- Stuff the turkey with the bread mixture.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and cover with foil.
- Roast for 2.5 to 3 hours, basting occasionally.
- Remove foil in the last 30 minutes for a crispy skin.
- Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest before carving.
