A delicious roasted turkey for your Thanksgiving feast.

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 1 onion, quartered
- 4 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry.
- In a bowl, mix butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme.
- Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey.
- Stuff the turkey cavity with lemon, onion, and any remaining herbs.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom.
- Cover the turkey with foil and roast for about 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Remove the foil for the last hour to allow the skin to brown.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
