- 12 lbs turkey
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 2 cups bread crumbs
- 1 tbsp dried sage
- 1 tbsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
- In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onions and celery until soft.
- Add sage, thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet and mix well.
- Combine the sautéed vegetables with bread crumbs in a bowl.
- Stuff the turkey with the bread mixture.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth over it.
- Cover with foil and roast for 2-3 hours, basting occasionally.
- Remove foil during the last hour to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Make sure the turkey is fully thawed before cooking.
- You can prepare the stuffing a day in advance.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
