Description
A delicious main course for Thanksgiving featuring roasted turkey with herbs and spices.
Ingrédients

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 onion, quartered
- 4 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, mix the butter, salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme, and garlic powder.
- Rub the mixture under the skin and over the turkey.
- Place the onion inside the turkey cavity.
- Put the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
- Roast for about 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, brine the turkey a day before roasting.
- Use a meat thermometer to check the turkey’s doneness.
- Save the drippings for making gravy.
