  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. In a bowl, mix the butter, salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme, and garlic powder.
  4. Rub the mixture under the skin and over the turkey.
  5. Place the onion inside the turkey cavity.
  6. Put the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
  7. Roast for about 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.

  • For extra flavor, brine the turkey a day before roasting.
