Ingrédients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 cups wood chips (hickory or apple)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
  2. Rub the turkey with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Soak the wood chips in water for 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the smoker to 225°F.
  5. Place the soaked wood chips in the smoker box.
  6. Put the turkey in the smoker and close the lid.
  7. Smoke the turkey for about 30 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  8. Remove the turkey and let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.

  • Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
  • Brining the turkey overnight adds flavor.
