Description
A classic British dessert made of layers of sponge cake, fruit, custard, and whipped cream.
Ingrédients

- 1 pound sponge cake
- 2 cups mixed berries
- 2 cups custard
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Cut the sponge cake into cubes.
- Layer half of the cake cubes in a large trifle dish.
- Add half of the mixed berries on top of the cake.
- Pour half of the custard over the berries.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, berries, and custard.
- Whip the cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Spoon the whipped cream over the top layer.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- Use any seasonal fruits for variation.
- For added flavor, soak the cake in fruit juice or liqueur.
