Description

A hearty soup made with white beans and ham hock.


Ingrédients

  • 1 pound white beans
  • 1 ham hock
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the white beans overnight in water.
  2. Drain and rinse the beans.
  3. In a large pot, add the ham hock, beans, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, and chicken broth.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  5. Remove the ham hock and let it cool.
  6. Shred the meat from the ham hock and return it to the pot.
  7. Add thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  8. Simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
  9. Serve hot.
