Ingrédients

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Red food coloring (optional)
  • Buttercream frosting for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
  4. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla extract; mix well.
  5. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  7. If using, add red food coloring for color.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared pans.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
  11. Layer cakes with buttercream frosting in between.
  12. Decorate the top and sides of the cake with more frosting.
