Description
A simple guide to freezing fresh black eyed peas for later use.
Ingrédients
- Fresh black eyed peas – 1 pound
- Water – enough for boiling
Instructions
- Rinse the black eyed peas under cold water.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil.
- Add the peas to the boiling water.
- Blanch the peas for 2-3 minutes.
- Drain the peas and transfer them to an ice bath to stop cooking.
- Once cooled, drain again and pat dry.
- Place the peas in freezer bags, removing as much air as possible.
- Label the bags with the date and freeze.

- Use fresh peas for the best flavor.
- Blanching helps preserve color and texture.
- Frozen peas can last up to 6 months in the freezer.
