Description
Gingerbread cookies are spiced cookies made with ginger, cinnamon, and molasses. They are popular during the holiday season and can be decorated.

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar.
- Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough and cut into shapes.
- Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Allow to cool before decorating.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- Decorate with icing or sprinkles if desired.
- Consider using cookie cutters for fun shapes.
