  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Royal icing for decoration
  • Assorted candies for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla to the butter mixture. Mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until combined.
  6. Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes for the house.
  7. Place the pieces on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Let cool completely before assembling the house.
  9. Use royal icing to assemble and decorate the gingerbread house with candies.
